Module: ConfigurationManager. Update content on a distribution point. Specify the ID of a boot image to update. Specify the name of a boot image to update. Prompts you for confirmation before running the cmdlet. Specify the ID of a driver package to update. Specify the name of a driver package to update. Specify an object type to update. Specify the ID of an OS image to update. Specify the name of an OS image to update. Specify the name of an OS upgrade package to update. By default, Configuration Manager also distributes the content for dependent applications.
To disable this behavior, use the DisableContentDependencyDetection parameter. Specify an array of boot image IDs to distribute. For example, "XYZ". Specify an array of Configuration Manager collection names. Use this collection to target the distribution points to which to distribute the content. Specify an array of software update deployment package IDs to distribute. This parameter treats wildcard characters as literal character values. You can't combine it with ForceWildcardHandling.
Specify an array of driver package IDs to distribute. This parameter processes wildcard characters and may lead to unexpected behavior not recommended. You can't combine it with DisableWildcardHandling. Specify an OS image object to distribute. Indicates that support for unknown computers is enabled.
Unknown computers are computers that are not managed by Configuration Manager. Specifies the ending IP address in a range of multicast addresses that Configuration Manager uses to send data to clients. This parameter processes wildcard characters and may lead to unexpected behavior not recommended. You can't combine it with DisableWildcardHandling. Specify a site system server object to add the distribution point role.
The distribution point role requires IIS. Specifies the amount of free space to reserve on each drive used by this distribution point. When this limit is reached, Configuration Manager chooses a different drive and continues the copy process to that drive.
Content files can span multiple drives. Starting in version , the default minimum free space changed from 50 MB to MB.
Specifies how many client requests must be received before a scheduled multicast starts to deploy the operating system. Specifies the maximum number of clients that can download the operating system from this distribution point.
Specifies the primary content location. Configuration Manager copies content to the primary content location until the amount of free space reaches the value that you specified for the MinimumFreeSpaceMB parameter. Specifies the primary package share location. Configuration Manager copies content to the primary package share location until the amount of free space reaches the value that you specified for the MinimumFreeSpaceMB parameter.
Specifies, in seconds, how long the distribution point delays before it responds to computer requests when you are using multiple PXE-enabled distribution points. Specifies the number of minutes that Configuration Manager waits before it responds to the first deployment request. After you update application content, the Configuration Manager log files are the best way to monitor the update process. Using the ConfigMgr log files , you can monitor the flow of the content update process.
After you update the content for an application deployment type, Configuration Manager creates a new content ID for the deployment type, and the package references the new content ID.
The log file that you must use to monitor the application content update process is distmgr. This log file is located on the site server. I have pasted the important lines from distmgr. Notice that the Package Action is 1.
